It was a 10 lb weekend...

This weekend we were in SLC visiting family and my mom out did herself. She had a version of chicken cordon bleu for dinner and was in the process of making cookies when we got there. She was obviously making cookies for Todd and his dad to take on their hunting trip on Saturday but she insisted she just felt like making cookies. Saturday she baked apple pies from scratch (does anyone know where to buy "scratch"??). She obviously baked them for me since I absolutely LOVE apple pie but she insisted she was just in the mood for apple pie. Mom's are great. I think all mom's have their own way of doting on their kids and my mom's is tasty food!

Here's my lunch. I had apple pie for breakfast as well and I'm proud of it. Believe me, the pie is not as good as it looks - it's even better!

And here is what I've eaten since we arrived home yesterday. I think I'll label it "contains mayonnaise" so Todd won't want any. If he asks any of you, apple pie DOES contain mayonnaise...

I can almost guarantee that I hate mayo as much as your hubby and my mom once made a gigantic cake for Sunday dinner dessert that was made out of mayonnaise (some recipe that guarantees that it stays more 'moist'). So, forget where you can find apple pies - where do you find doting mothers? Because I hate mayo (my hatred is well-documented) and my mom only has one child's likes/dislikes to keep track of. I guess the fact that she comes over and folds my laundry is doting in its own right.

Oh, and I doubt that you have ever gained 10 lbs. in a solid year :)

Do you think she could ship that? Really, the weather has cooled down and I'm almost postive it would fit in a priority mail box.

I've heard of sour cream in cake but never mayonnaise - I can't imagine that tasted good! But I'll lend you my doting treat mom if you lend me your doting laundry folding mom!

And I've totally gained 10 lbs in a year before - one long cold winter in Korea and when I was pregnant. But I am pretty lucky that I got my dad's genes - he ate a little food with his butter and never gained a pound. I wish I had my grandma's genes, though, she gained a cup size with each kid! I'd have 2 more kids. :>

The cup size reference was high comedy :)

Believe me, you don't want the extra cup sizes, kids or not. They just end up sagging down to your belly button. Not good at all.

I have the recipe for the chocolate cake with mayonnaise. For the record, real mayo is eggs and oil (whipped fluffy), both of which are reasonable cake ingredients.

I won't discuss how many years in a row I've gained ten pounds...

Actually, I remember that now - I believe I had to make mayonnaise in a nutrition class once. Why does it sound so disgusting in cake when it's just eggs and oil? Now sour cream - that makes a good cake.

And Claudia - you look great so no need to discuss any past 10 lbs. :>

Tristan - I've heard the sagging thing from others but I must admit, the enhancement I received while nursing was perfect and I would have kept nursing until he could talk just to keep it but I cut Evan off cold turkey the day he got teeth. The prospect of pain was not worth my new found figure. What can I say, I'm a wimp!

What? You advise ceasing the nursing once the teeth sprout? Why didn't someone tell me? Mine carry on full conversations and pack their own school lunches by the time I cut them off.

You are a brave woman, Corbie, and I admire you.
